| I entertained Danalie this evening. She was a young damsel, by my
standards, confused and frightened. Her trust was hard one. A priestess of
no small stature, she insisted on divining my true nature, Of course she
discovered nothing. convinced tha t I intended no harm, she accepted my
invitation. Her journey to my land had not been an easy one, so I laid
before her a repast worthy of kings. I sipped at wine while Danalie ate heartily for one so small. Her conversation was fasinating. She innocent ly spoke of the new magic being discovered in her home land; mages mastering the forces of chaos and priests able to draw upon the power of the devoted. Sleepy and full of the food of mortals that I no longer craved, she was easy prey. I could no longer resist the song of her blood, pounding against the walls of her heart. Now awake and fearfull, she called upon the power of her god to drive me from her. My laughter echoed off the stone walls of castle Ravenloft as she snatched up a candlestick. Though I felt the fire of her conviction strike me as a blow, it did not withstand the wind of my will. "Your god has no power here!" I hissed. With one blow I dashed the silver trinket from her grasp. Her last words were "What form of vampire are you to deny the command of my god?" A short time later I told her pale, drained corpse, "I am The Ancient, I am The Land." On the eve of the morrow, she will tell me all she knows of this new magic. Only then will I release her to seek sustenance from the veins of some hapless traveler. |

| Back in the day, yeah, you hear people say that all the time....."Back in the day, we would have blah blah blah". Well let me tell you, "back in the day" there was a group of guys that owned your ass. One of those guys was named Strahd. We used to terrorize the IRC community then, and damn were we good at it. At that particular time, both Strahd and myself were fairly new at it, but Strahd picked up on things awful quickly. With his help we bounced llamas off the net like flies. yeah, back in the day. On Feburary 27th our dear friend Strahd shed his mortal body and traveled onward to whereever it is his faith took him. Its really kinda odd right now, I find myself half in shock, half in mourning, and completely in denial. I keep expecting to someone tell me it was nothing but one big joke, and he's at home laughin' his ass off at all of us for taking it seriously, but, unfortunately thats just not how it is. Sometimes you never truly know how much someone has touched your life until they are no longer on this land to continue to touch it. This goes specifically for those you know in the form myself and most of the rest of us knew him, through IRC The years passed by, and Strahd and #Vampire was no longer the home base for takin' over llama channels, but, our friendship remained intact. I left the internet for a few years, and I can still remember the day I came back and hopped on #Vampire. Strahd was there hanging out and chattin' away, I truly didn't expect him to remember me. He did of course, and it was almost as if I had never left. Strahd just welcomed me back and treated me as though I'd never even left, it's just the type he is. I truly wish I could say I knew him more then I did, I always intended to meet him, circumstance just kept that from happening. It's not quite easy to describe Strahd, well really it is. Strahd was a man. To many of you that may seem like a stupid description, until you understand my meaning of the word. Being a man is not simply being male. I know many males that are far from being a man. A man is honest, loyal, respectful, straightforward, and always there when you need them. Strahd was all of those, and then some. I'm not very good at this sort of thing, so I'm going to cut this short here. I'll leave by simply saying, what really doesnt need said for those that knew him, but he touched everyone in a way very few do. Wherever you are my friend, heres to ya, Strahd von Zarovich, my friend.... We love ya man, you will be missed dearly. |
